The MLWP is celebrating 10 Years !

A look at ten great items that have been contributed to the site

There have been so many contributions to the site over the years. I am grateful for everything that is sent over and
thank all the fans who have shared their collections with us. You have helped to make the sites so much better than I had hoped for.

It's hard to pick a top ten so we'll call this a first ten of some of the cooler items sent over by 'friends of the MLWP'

Wildman Line-up Sheet

The first item that comes to mind when compiling a list of cool items contributed to the site has to be the hand written Line-up sheet
from a 1975 Wildman show. This is the sheet, likely written by The Wildman for the announcer to use while introducing the participants.
This was sent around the first few months the site was up, Ed White who wrestled as Handsome Johnny Davis had posted a pic of the sheet
online so I e-mailed him and asked if I could use a larger scan for the site.

In a very gracious act Ed actually mailed me the sheet along with a Tunney TV pay stub for use on the site. I also spoke to Ed
for one of my first features - Working The Circuit - which started to expand the site from a photo style to include stories and interviews.

MLG Poster 1976

I have received lots of stuff from Eric Peddle. This item, a beautiful and rare poster for a 1976 MLG show
that I used for a Pic Of The Month was a great find. For those of you familiar with the Wildman's Posters, you will note this is
made from the same template, and is still the only MLG poster from this era I have ever seen.

MLG Schedules 1978

Another item Eric sent me were 2 MLG Schedules, written for the Ushers listing all the events over
Nov and Dec 1978. Cool for fans who attended other things beside the Wrestling shows.
I was fortunate to attend many Marlies and Leafs games over the years as well as many concerts at the Gardens.

Chum Chart 1974

Another frequent contributor Wes Maidment sent me this cool Wrestling themed Chum Chart.
1050 Chum was the hit radio station in Toronto for decades and put out a weekly chart. This one features
DJ Terry Steele in action vs Sweet Daddy Siki, there were a few bouts with the dj's over the years in Toronto
as well as in Oshawa, put on as special attractions.

MLG Passes 1976

Another contribution from Eric Peddle, 2 passes issued to The Sheik and Abdullah Farouk for entry to MLG
Another item that you don't see all that often, cool that they are issued in the working names, though it would be hard to mistake
The Sheik if you were a regular working at the Gardens in the 70's.

Exeter show 1986

Dave O'Halloran sent over some great photos and some other items from Western Ontario from his collection
Its always a treat to receive photos, and these were a great addition, very bold in black and white, and a fine set from
one of the Wildman's last summers working across Ontario.

Canadian Champs - Now

Chris Kovachis has sent me lots of pics with his Canadian Title posed with the former champs - recently - from
fan conventions and other appearances around North America. Hossein the Arab / The Iron Sheik is a great shot as he is
known to be a bit 'off-kilter' you could say. Chris shows no fear and Hossen's expression as Chris explains what the belt is - is a keeper!

Griff Henderson also got a shot some years back with Greg Valentine,
and more of Chris' pics can be found at The Canadian Title

Tunney TV Pay Stub

Another item Ed White aka Johnny Davis sent me, a very rare pay stub from working CHCH TV in 1976.
Ed has some great stories of wrestling in Ontario, driving Andre The Giant around, and working on the Wildman Circuit
as well as an MLG card in 1975 facing Mark Lewin. Ed would be billed as... Ed White , only at MLG though. He shares
the same name as another wrestler well known in these parts - Sailor (Ed) White - who was also in the area at that time.

MLG Mockup

Griff Henderson sent me over some pics of a great MLG re-creation. Lots of detail in this
one, I joked that the guy in the red lumberjacket was me. We used to live in those things! Note the little
Canadian Title Belt on Mosca in the top pic on the page. Griff contributed so much of the site in the first years
and is such an essential part of the growth of the MLWP.

Roger Baker's Photos

It would be impossible to pick just one of the photos that Roger Baker has sent me for use on the site.
This one, of 'Catalina' George Drake standing in the hall at MLG is a sure favorite. Frank Tunney and Pat Flanagan are also pictured.

Every one of Roger's photos is a rare treat for all fans of MLW and Pro Wrestling in general as we dont see a lot of
items surfacing from the 1960's. There are lots of his photos here as well as at Slam ! Wrestling.
