The Gorilla Goes Bad

In June 1978 Gorilla Monsoon turned on his tag partner Andre The Giant and went 'bad' for a spell - but only in Toronto

Monsoon had wrestled in Toronto early in his career under his real name Gino Marella before he morphed into the giant from Manchuria
but went back to the 'good' side in 1969. The turn in Toronto was a lead-in for a title bout vs then WWWF champ Bob Backlund.
Monsoon would beat Nick DeCarlo & Dom Denucci on the next MLG cards before losing to champ Backlund on Sept 10 1978.
The bout vs Backlund would mark the final appearance for Gorilla in Toronto as an active wrestler and marks another unique Toronto moment
