Although he never wrestled at MLG during the MLWP era (first match at MLG - Aug 1984), George ' The Animal ' Steele would often show up on The Wildman's shows throughout Ontario. It was a perfect match alongside The Sheik, The Wolfman and the other characters that would make up the cards in the smaller towns around Toronto. When I first started watching wrestling in NY, Steele was a consistent challenger for the WWWF belt and had some good series with all the champs of the era so it was cool to see him at the smaller arenas. The article is from The London Tribune March 1981, Steele won that particular match by count-out over Cowboy Frankie Laine (note that it says how Steele is really a teacher out of the ring !).
