Originally scheduled to be NWA Champ Harley Race vs U.S. Champ Steamboat, Race
never made it to the show and Studd won a coin toss to face Steamboat for his title

Had Race wrestled it would have marked a rare NWA & AWA double title defense
- AWA champ Bockwinkel faced Bravo. Steamboat came back to win the match and retain his title.
