BACK TO HOME

The feud could trace it’s origins back to the May 24th card when Mr Fuji interfered in the Canadian Title match
between champ Angelo Mosca and Roddy Piper throwing salt in Mosca’s eyes

Mosca demanded a bout with Fuji and on June 14th , was again was the victim of the salt in the eyes trick.
If not for former champ Dewey Robertson coming to his aid, it could have been the end of his Canadian Title reign.

In promo’s leading up to the bout, Mosca declared “I don’t care if it is in a parking lot, a television studio, or an arena.
I just want to injure Mr Fuji. Before I am done with him will bleed and bleed again.” Mr Fuji was not to be intimidated
replying with “ Soon Mosca and his belt will be in my trophy room.”

Mosca would attack Fuji at the bell and exact some revenge for the previous indiscretions winning the bout
cleanly after about 16 minutes of action. This feud would continue around the circuit with a tag team match the following
day in St Catherines where Angelo would team with Ric Flair against Fuji and Piper.

On the next MLG card Mr Fuji would finally beat Mosca for the title but his reign would be short with only one
recorded defense (Buffalo July 20th) before losing the belt back to Angelo on the July 26th card

Back to Sunday June 28, we also saw the highly touted match-up between U.S. Champ Piper and challenger Flair
Hyped as Piper-Flair III (due to two previous match-ups at MLG) Tony Parisi was designated as the special referee to ensure a
finish to the feud

However it was not to be as Piper was disqualified for refusing to obey the rules. In Oshawa on the 30th, Flair would
team up with Parisi against Piper and Ray Stevens and the two teams would meet again on the July 12th MLG card

In other matches Ray Stevens beat Sweet Ebony Diamond, Tony Parisi & Bruno Sammartino Jr beat Frankie Laine & Kurt Von Hess
Billy Red Lyons beat John Bonello, and Nick DeCarlo drew The Wolfman
